Go ahead, see it in your mind's eye... You step aboard, and the dedicated crew greet you with a warm smile and a
tall, cool glass. This yacht is your home. Your cabin is spacious and luxurious, with ensuite bathroom and beautiful artwork. The yacht itself is a work of the shipmaster's art, and as you unpack, this trim little vessel is
straining at anchor to whisk you off to exotic places. The captain and crew know and understand this cruising ground, and are delighted when you take the helm. They are content to let you relax and unwind. You savor the delicious
meals prepared especially for you by your crew as you move each day to a new anchorage, another new adventure. There is no need for taxis, no worry about cars. You let the crew arrange activities, maybe a sightseeing excursion or
any other plasure for you. A good amount of your cruise is spent at anchor, and you take your time and explore the sandy beaches and clear, blue waters, or simply relax on board. All you have to do is enjoy.
Croatian coastal islands "The gods wanted to crown their creation and on the last day they turned tears, stars and the sea breeze into the isles of Kornati" so said George Bernard Shaw of just a part of the
spectacular Croatian coastal islands. These 140 islands, islets and reefs make up the northern part of the cruising grounds available to the yacht charterer. The larger islands between Split and Dubrovnik entice with beautiful tree
lined coasts, villages steeped in history, gorgeous beaches and bays, all within the background of coastal mountains dropping straight into the sea. It is no wonder that Croatia is the crossroads of East meeting West and Central
Europe meeting the M
iterranean. The ubiquitous myriad historical towns show ancient Rome, Byzantine, Romanesque, Renaissance influence. Such is the experience of the charterer in these crystal clear and remarkably clean waters.
Tourist facilities are in full operation, including modern marinas, and the larger towns of Split and Dubrovnik offer some of the best of European cultural events but there are plenty of opportunities to visit the tiny, unspoiled
villages with a window on an older way of life. The Croatians will open their hearts to you, showing their welcome with a shy friendliness that is warming and genuine. Language is not a problem as English is spoken to a great
extent along the coast and coastal islands. Sailing Conditions The waters are deep, clean and welcoming. Winds are moderate for the most part and for most of the spring, summer and fall. There is an
occasionally strong north wind called the "Bora" but this only blows for a day or so at a time. Along the coast and on some islands are a series of modern marinas that offer pier space, electricity, fuel, water, laundry,
shower and shopping facilities. Other docking facilities include town piers or bays for dropping anchor. And then there are the numerous white sandy beaches for solitude..... The most crowded period is July and August when sailing
enthusiasts from Europe flock to the coast but the months of May, June, September and October should not be overlooked for aquieter visit to this unspoiled coast. |
